The Conair Infiniti Pro Smooth & Wave 2-in-1 automatic hair styler simultaneously achieves two effects: "smoothing and straightening" as well as "waving and curling."

The research and development of this product began in 2012, undertaken by a design company in Shenzhen, China. The author was fortunate to have participated in the entire process. The brushless geared motor used was primarily employed to drive the mechanical system that automatically draws hair into the device. Notably, the initial gear reduction ratio was designed at 1:37, but testing revealed insufficient torque, so the ratio was subsequently increased to 1:74.
The adopted NIDEC 13H220E020 motor serves the following main functions:
- Function: Provides smooth, controllable torque through a gear reduction mechanism to drive a set of roller transport components.
- Action: When the user places the ends of their hair into the device's inlet and activates it, the system automatically and gently pulls the hair into the internal heating chamber.
- Purpose: Ensures that the hair is fed evenly and stably, allowing it to be heated and shaped (straightened or curled) by the heating plates inside the chamber, thereby achieving an "automatic styling" effect.
This is fundamentally different from traditional straighteners: conventional products rely entirely on manual operation of the clamping plates, whereas this type of intelligent styling tool automates the hair-feeding process via a motor, enhancing ease of use and consistency.
